Nick & Tracey's Wedding

I recently Shot Nick and Tracey's wedding at The Canterbury Place and it was AMAZING!
I couldn't believe how much planning and work that they put into all of the decorations and details for the wedding! They even had individual place cards hanging for all of the guests that Tracey hand-beaded.
I showed up a little early to get all of the details and of Nick and Tracey getting ready before the ceremony. The set-up here is amazing! There is a huge Bride's room for the girls, and a separate Groom's room for the guys fully equipped with a big screen TV and Xbox!
The ceremony was in the garden area and was beautiful. I loved all of the bright colored balls for decoration. After the ceremony we did some fun family pictures and pictures with the bridal party, and then headed into the dining room for dinner and dancing. Tracey's cake was amazing (I'll have to find out who made it). And they had a "Guitar Hero" grooms cake! And to top off all of the decorations, they had about a dozen mounted 8x12 pictures of them that I took at her bridals / groomals scattered around. That reminds me, I should blog some of their groomals :)

Ok, so I have a funny story about this one...

One day I'm sitting here at the studio and Christal walks in thinking she has an appointment with us. Knowing that we didn't have anything scheduled for a couple more hours, I was very confused but went along with it. She wanted to talk to us about possibly booking and see some of our work. I take her through the whole shin-dig about Dezember Photo and all of a sudden she realizes that she's at the wrong studio! Oh no! She called the photographer she was supposed to meet with to apologize for not meeting them and we continued to chat. Well, she ended up just booking us right then and there! What a great mistake to make, huh Christal?!

Anyways, here are the engagements that Brody shot of this cute couple. Enjoy!

For their groomal session, they wanted to do some at the Temple so they don't have to take as much time on the wedding day for those pictures and some around town. Can't wait for their wedding Saturday at the Salt Lake Temple and Wadley Farms! Should be a fun day!

Bridals - Sarah

Sarah lives in California so we've been emailing back and forth about ideas for her Bridal pictures. She wanted a lounge-type feel for most of the pictures so we finally decided on the Beehive Tea Room to start off then went on a little walk around downtown. I think these turned out amazing Brody! (with help of an amazing assistant haha) Stay tuned for their wedding from last Saturday at Log Haven, should be sweet!

...Leo is such a huge beatles fan that he even had a beatles grooms cake, so they had to stop by the infamous slc pepper mural!

KISS - Keep It Simple Stupid

Jacob & Brittany - Utah Wedding Photography

What a fun day this was! It first started out with Jacob and Brittany meeting me at the studio so we could hit a couple of cool locations before we headed over to the temple. They had a great luncheon before the sealing at the JSMB where I had probably THE BEST pasta salad I have ever had. After the sealing I was able to get caught up on the happenings of Sydney and Adam who were some of my favorite past clients. The night ended at The Bungalow, which has a wonderful outside area for a fun reception. Here is just a few shots of the morning location and the temple.

I just published a few new pages on the website and they all have to do with pricing. I am officially announcing the newest additional to our package line up. BYOP or Build Your Own Package! BYOP starts out at $1100 and goes up from there. This means you can now how us shoot for just a couple of hours or for the entire day. You also get to choose what you want as far as products go. All we require is that you spend at least $500 in products.

We also now have Documentary Films in our line and if you haven't seen some of our films you may want to jump on the portfolio and take a look at a couple of teaser films we have on there. Film coverage starts at $1095 for FULL DAY COVERAGE. Personally I think that is a killer deal for documentary style wedding film.

It's that time of year again to start thinking about family photos! We started up our portrait party last year and it was a great success. It's an awesome way to get a great deal on the session fee. It normally costs between $75-200 for this session, but on October 24th you can book a 30 minute session for only $45! The wedding that I shot last Friday was so much fun! We started out at the Draper Temple on probably the most clear blue skies I have seen in a while. Yes it was hot, but we didn't care. After the temple I we stopped at the studio to pick up Stacey for a little help and then we were off again to shoot around town. I had a couple of places in mind that I thought would be fun to shoot in Salt Lake. From there we headed over to Tucano's for a wedding dinner. I was out by 5pm which was a first in a long time. This was such a fun wedding! It all took place down south at the Springville Museum of Art. This was the first time I had been down there to shoot and it was incredible. I seriously think that the more people find out about this place the more I will be shooting down there. The grounds were amazing. Of course I had an absolute blast shooting this wedding. The entire family and bridal party were awesome to hang with as you can see in the opening part of the video, they were fun too!

Marty & Sarah's Fashion Groomal Shoot

I had this groomal shoot scheduled last month when the weather was being CRAZY and freak thunder storms were popping up out of no where. Marty and Sarah wanted a more grungy, fashion style to their shoot and I think we got exactly what we were looking for despite some major change of plans...

When we headed out to the first stop near some railroad tracks, the wind kicked up and it got really dark even though it was still around 6:00. These dark clouds started to roll up behind us and even though I had to shoot QUICK, we got some AMAZING shots! Within just a couple minutes we had to scoop up the dress and run for the car as the rain came in.

And when it rained, it POURED. And it got dark like it was already night time. So we cruised downtown to hide in a parking garage to shoot a bit and see if the rain would blow over. After shooting in the parking garage for a bit, the rain stopped and this HUGE rainbow came out!!

Tuckett & Jamie - Utah Wedding Photography

I was so excited to shoot this wedding because I knew it was going to be incredible, and I was so right. The catering was done by Le Croissant and it was so yummy! When Trevor and Trisha showed up for their engagement shoot, they were PREPARED. Almost TOO prepared!
They had a huge pile of clothes to change into, different shoes, shirts, pants, everything! And a big ol’ list of shots that I’ve done that they’ve seen on my blog and liked and wanted! Now, I like it when my clients keep up with what I shoot and actually check out my blog, but WOW! They wanted their photography to be a bit grungy, urban, downtown, mixed with fashion and a little fun! So ya, I went WAY overboard and shot a billion pictures. But we ended up with TONS of sweet stuff! Check it out!

Joey & Jessica - Wedding Slideshow

A little while back I flew to Denver Colorado to shoot a wedding for Joey and Jessica and it was awesome! First off, if you're staying in Denver, stay at the Curtis Hotel downtown. Every floor has a different theme ranging from horror movies to Speed Racer! And if you're traveling alone and need someone to play the Wii in the lobby or a board game they'll get an employee to play with you!

The day was packed from beginning to end with photos, food, more photos, more food, more photos, and ended with more food!

We started off with some getting ready and detail shots at the Lionsgate Event Center. The girls did their hair and the guys played poker :) What a sweet set up this place has!

The ceremony was outside at the Dove House. Beautiful place! After the ceremony we did quick family and bride and groom shots before heading into the luncheon where they had their first dances and cut the cake. After the luncheon we headed over to their parents home for a VERY traditional ceremony in full traditional dress. It was so neat to see how different cultures celebrate weddings! Part of the ceremony was with the patriarchs and matriarchs throwing nuts (or a dried fruit?) into a blanket and however many Joey and Jessica caught symbolized how many children they’re going to have. All I can say is they’re going to need a BIG house!

Their families were SO NICE and made sure to keep everyone super well fed!

After all the ceremonies were over, all the friends headed out on the town for a final celebration.

Lindsay - Bridals

It was a crazy hot day and for some reason the grounds keepers were spraying off every bit of the grounds so we were really limited to only being able to shoot in the dry areas (which wasn't very many places), but I think they turned out sweet.

It’s been a little while since I have done a wedding post, but trust me I have a TON of weddings that I need to post. This wedding is an extra special one though. Carly and Dustin were actually married last year. They hired me and then had to change the date and I unfortunately was out of state shooting a wedding they day they rescheduled for. Luckily I was still able to do their reception a year later.
The day we shot was incredible. The weather was a little crazy, but Carly had chose to have the reception on the roof of the downtown library. We got rained on just before the reception started, but it cleared up nicely and we had an amazing time. Click the play button below to see a bunch of shots from the day. And my last wedding of the week. Yup you counted correctly the studio shot 5 weddings the week of Christmas and man are we tired! Luckily Brandon and Heather's wedding was a little bit later in the day and Derek was shooting it with me. Derek ended up coming over to my house little early so we could ride the 4 wheeler and pull and get pulled on the sled in my field. It was a ton of fun and it geared us up to shoot that evening. We decided to get some really creative and unique shots of this couple and man are they sweet! Check'em out!

Scott & Amy was the second wedding of the week and one of our 3 weddings on the 28Th. All 3 of us (Randy, Derek and myself) were shoot today. Randy and Derek's images will be posted up this coming week so stay tuned for those.

Some of you might remember Amy from the opening image on the website and her killer bridals we did a month or so ago. These two are so cute together. Like the day before it was freezing outside so we only shot for about an hour before retreating out of the cold. A big thanks to Amy's sister for hooking me up with some hot chocolate at the end!

Wedding number one of this past week was with Jace & Jenna. Like with every shoot I have done with these two the weather was either raining or snowing, but on Thursday we just had a super cold day. We had a very busy week. 4 weddings, one of them being in Newport Beach. Plus we had about 30 orders come in and be picked up all in one day! I forgot to bring home Friday's wedding with me but I do have the wedding I shot on Saturday as well as the wedding Randy shot on Saturday. So I am going to start with Bryce and Heather.
It was FREEZING cold on Saturday morning at the SL Temple. I lost my gloves and I was paying the price for it. Heather was pretty cold herself, but it was a gorgeous day and their images rocked!

Adam and Ashley was one of my many shoots yesterday and probably the warmest part of the day. Adams Mom was in town and I was so happy that she was able to come along. It was actually kind of funny because every time they kissed Adam was a little embarrassed that his Mom was watching and he got a little red in the face. Good Times!

This little boy totally stole the show. Gabe is his name and he is a smiling machine! After we took a few of him we were able to take Scott and Christy out for some fun. It was cold, but thats just the way it is in the winter time I guess. I love the colors!

Ok, so its been a bit since my last real photo post, but since the vacation over Thanksgiving we have been shooting at least 2-3 times a day with multiple weddings and since. I have a ton of images to post, but today I want to start with Amy's Bridals. She is so amazing! I love her personality and she was just stunning! Everything about her and her dress were perfect. Why I LOVE APPLE!

There are so many reasons why almost 2 years ago I decided to invest moving the studio over from a windows based computer systems to apple, but what happened today tops the list. Just under 2 years ago I bought a iMac as tester to see how I would like using the Mac operating system. Since then we have upgraded and this first iMac has become a computer that is rarely used and if you have been in the studio it is the computer that controls our TV in the front.

Anyway, I have been upgrading our OS to the new Leopard and while installing it on this old iMac something went wrong and the entire computer just wasn't doing what it was supposed to do. I took it into the Apple Store and I worked with one guy for nearly 3 hours to fix it. I am pretty smart when it comes to computers and I pretty much knew what needed to be done to fix it and just nothing was working. We even zeroed out the hard drive and tried to start completely over and it just would not work. Again, 3 hours into it we pretty much gave up and I was preparing myself to buy a new one. Figuring out my options the guy that was helping me ran into the back and came out with a brand new silver iMac. Jokingly I said, sweet your are just going to trade me out. I knew that I was a year out of my warranty and there was know way that he was going to do it. But get this, he said "YUP, You have been super patient over the past 3 hours and I have seen how many computers you have bought from us and I am just going to take care of you." So seriously, he traded out my 2 year old iMac for a BRAND NEW iMAC!!!!

That is customer service and I am a Apple customer for life.

Vacation!

After 11 amazing months of photographing over 200 sessions and just over 80 weddings we finally are taking a much needed vacation. The studio is closed for the rest of the week while we all spend time with our families over the holiday.
My family has been planning this trip for just over a year and I can't believe that we are finally here. We hopped a flight to California and we are planning on spending the next 3 days at Disney Land! Today we started out by visiting Manhattan Beach and one of my favorite stores. The Sketchers flagship store! Yes I do have a bit of a shoe fetish. Either way, here are a few shots from my point and shoot.

These two are so great! I had a seriously good time shooting their engagements. I have been feeling like crap most of the day, but when Scott and Amy showed up I started feeling better. I am SO far behind on blogging its sad. Seriously, I have about 20-30 sessions that need to be blogged, but Im not sure if I am going to be able to get to all of them. I did find a great shoot with Jace and Jenna that I would love to share. We shot Jace's sister Shea a little while back and I am so excited that we get to see their family again. We got lucky and found a spot that still had amazing color and a ton of leaves left. This was a week or so ago and all of the color is now pretty much gone. Today the fam went to see one of the best animated movies I have seen. The Bee Movie! IT was funny for both kids and adults and unlike most animated movies the middle was not boring. I actually saw a trailer for this movie around a year ago that absolutely made me want to take my family to the movies. Check out how funny this trailer is.

After a very fun week in New York/New Jersey Derek and I are back home and getting ourselves caught up with everything that got backed up while we were away. Get ready to see a ton of new posts and some fun images from New York and a few amazing images from the wedding we shot with David Salomone while we were there! Here are a few shots from the top of the Empire State Building. Oh yeah, I almost forgot. While we were walking around we ran into a bunch of celebs selling hot dogs on the street. I grabbed a few shots of Gene Simmons, Donald Trump and a few others that were hanging around.

This week Derek and I are in NYC doing a couple of shoots and a wedding and we are also going to be attending a killer Photography convention here. I am constantly on the look out for amazing organizations to donate to and help out when they are in need. Yesterday I came across this amazing .org that helps local schools and teachers get funding for projects for their classrooms. After looking at all of the projects in Utah, this is the one that I wanted to help fund. I created a registry that you can click on HERE or at the link on the top left.

I teach fourth grade in an Elementary School in the Public School system. In our study of science and social studies, the students are to identify different trees, plants animals, biomes, and clouds.

As each of these topics are addressed, it is hard to assess if the students are visualizing the objects that are being described.

Through the use of the cameras, students will be put into teams to take pictures of the different animals, plants and weather that we are discussing. After taking the photos, students will print them, mount them into a book, add their caption and explanation of the photos in preparation for their presentation of the world they have come to see through the camera activity.

Science will become more than pictures in a book, or a video seen on the television. Science will become real and a part of each students life.

Students will need three cameras and camera dock kit. The cost of this proposal is $514

I just posted a new poll to the left. I want to know what type of photography you are more drawn too. I have notice that the trend in the state is changing to a much more lifestyle photography and we have been doing this for years now. What troubles me is that the industry is not following suit. Just look at the bridal mags and vendor books. They are trying to stay with the original conservative images and agenda rather then evolve in the direction that people are looking for. So after a little bit of thought, I started thinking that maybe I am totally wrong with my assumption. So please vote on the poll and let me know if I am totally out of my mind.
